The injury sustained by Force winger Nick Cummins will have great implications on the team, as the Super Rugby finals draw closer.
Cummins sustained a neck injury during the first international game against France. He then went on to play the next two games, further aggravating it. At first glance the replays appear to show Cummins had injured his shoulder. However the results from scans have revealed it was his neck.
Western Force coach Michael Foley has kept the rehabilitation time under raps. However he did offer incite into how the club will deal with the injury to their star winger.
“He is sore. I think when you talk about necks and heads you obviously are more conservative with the decision.”
With the cult hero still uncertain to play next weeks game it will undoubtedly bring added pressure to the locker room. Cummins impact in the team is crucial. He allows the team to play a strong outside game which they often use as their avenue for scoring.
After the loss in last Saturday’s crucial game against the Blues the absence of Cummins firepower on the wing will be increasingly missed by the team.
Cummins failed a late fitness test before the game last week and still continues to be in doubt for this weeks match against the Reds.
