The Western Force has stunned fans and critics alike with a 28-16 victory over the NSW Waratahs.
A hat-trick by 'The Honey Badger' Nick Cummins produced the upset of the round and moved the Force to second in the Australian conference behind the Brumbies.
The possession was dominated by the Waratahs who had the ball 77% of the time and had 159 total phases to the Force's 75. They also ran almost 500 more metres than the Force and won nine scrums.
However, the Force defense was the story of the game only missing 9 tackles to the Waratahs 30.
The entire back row in the Australian Conference team of the week was made up of Force players with Angus Cotrell, Matt Hodgson, Ben McCallman and Alby Matthewson being named from numbers six to nine respectively. The Honey Badger was also included at number 11 for his hat-trick.
The Force will be traveling to Melbourne this Friday night for a slightly easier fixture against the Melbourne Rebels. They will hopefully be able to produce some strong offense against the Rebels but they must not take the Rebels for granted and lapse in their defense. Now that they have established themselves as a top two team in Australia and a top four team in the league (still early days) it will be easy to become complacent, just as every other team has been playing against the Force.
Will the Force make it six straight?
