Force number 8 Ben McCalman has been suspended for two weeks for a lifting tackle following the Forces 31-29 win over the Highlanders. The suspension was enforced under Law 10.4(I), which states that:
'Lifting a player from the ground and dropping or driving that player into the ground whilst that player's feet are still off the ground such that the players head and/or upper body come into contact with the ground is dangerous play'
SANZAR Duty Judicial Officer Nicholas Davidson QC accepted a guilty plea from McCalman and suspended him up until the 29th of March 2013.
Luckily McCalman's clean record got him off easily.
"Based on the acceptance of the indicated sanction, and the players excellent disciplinary record, a discount from the lower and entry point of four weeks to a two week suspension was imposed" - Nicholas Davidson QC.
How do you think the Force will travel this weekend without their number 8 and one less internationally capped player?
